Hair and shoes

I study Freya’s hair as we descend

the stairs,

further and further down. Curving round

and I’m trying not to get dizzy, looking

at her hair…

… now bleach blonde,

bleach blonde, with hints of honey

dripping over sand.

A desert.

And her shoes, they are orange,

bright orange, with pink laces,

the sort of shoes that would look silly

on anyone else, but she can pull them off.

But she can, she makes them look cool.

She’s cool. I think I might be dreaming.
